ICON Vehicle Dynamics

The Stage 9 suspension system for 2005–2023 Toyota Tacoma is engineered to maximize wheel travel and damping for superior vehicle control and ride quality on- and off-road. This package combines extended travel, vehicle-specific front coilovers with remote reservoirs and ICON RXT rear components, including a multi-rate leaf spring and a 2.5 Aluminum Series remote reservoir shock.

Front suspension features vehicle-specific 2.5 Series extended travel coilovers with remote reservoirs and CDXS damping, ICON-engineered coil springs, and a billet aluminum upper control arm to correct geometry and provide on-vehicle camber and caster adjustment. Coilovers are height adjustable to accommodate larger wheel and tire combinations.

Rear suspension uses ICON multi-rate leaf springs with an included additional leaf to tailor spring rate (10–20% change) for unloaded or heavily loaded applications (bed racks, rooftop tents, spare tires, etc.). Rear RXT 2.5 Aluminum Series remote reservoir shocks feature a side-mounted eyelet for increased extension while retaining factory mounting, a large remote reservoir for improved heat dissipation, and CDXS high- and low-speed compression adjustability with 10 detents each.

Upper control arms are billet aluminum and use ICON’s Delta Joint — a heavy-duty, high-angle joint that combines corrosion protection, a grease seal, greaseable design, and metal-on-metal construction for durability, longevity, and noise-free operation while allowing greater angularity than a typical ball joint.

  • Increased wheel travel and improved ride quality over stock.
  • Vehicle-specific tuned front and rear shocks for superior damping and control.
  • 2.5 Series front coilovers with remote reservoirs for improved cooling and consistent performance under hard use.
  • Adjustable coilovers provide up to 0–3.5" of front lift for 2005–2015 models and 0–2.75" for 2016–2023 models.
  • CDXS-equipped shocks with independent high-speed and low-speed compression adjustability for tuning handling response and aggressiveness.
  • Extended travel coilovers to maximize wheel travel and droop.
  • 6061 aircraft-grade aluminum CNC machined components and corrosion-resistant coilover bodies with 7/8" shafts.
  • FK rod end bearings for extended longevity and minimal deflection.
  • Billet aluminum upper control arms for added strength, durability, and on-vehicle caster/camber adjustment.
  • Delta Joint upper control arm joint for enhanced durability and angularity.
  • 2.5 Aluminum Series RXT rear shocks with anodized aluminum bodies and 7/8" shafts.
  • RXT rear shock side-mounted eyelet increases travel up to approximately 20% while using factory mounting locations.
  • Multi-rate leaf springs with three user-adjustable spring rates to suit different vehicle configurations and loads.

Technical Notes

  • OEM wheels and tires retain fitment.
  • Recommended wheel fitments for this system (example fitments): 17x8.5 with 4.75" backspace / 0mm offset; 18x9 with 5.00" backspace / 0mm offset; 20x9 with 5.00" backspace / 0mm offset.
  • Recommended tire size: up to 33x11.50" (larger tires may fit but fender trimming and modifications will be required).
  • These systems are to be used with aftermarket upper control arms only.
  • 700 lb/in expedition coil option available for heavier-equipped vehicles.
  • Shocks are fully serviceable. Coilover heights indicated are for a stock-equipped vehicle.
  • Installation of the complete ICON system is required to attain advertised wheel travel; use of other manufacturers' components may not provide advertised wheel travel and could cause unknown damage.
  • 2016–2023 Tacoma front lift range: 0–2.75".
  • For 2005–2015 models front lift range: up to 0–3.5".
  • Most Tacoma submodels will have rear lift height range of approximately 1.875–2.625" over stock, depending on rear spring configuration and rear weight.
  • 2017–2023 Tacoma TRD Pro models: front lift range 0–1.25" and rear lift range approximately 1.375–2.125", depending on rear spring configuration and rear weight.
  • Trimming or minor fender modification may be required for recommended tire sizes.
  • Bump stop spacer kit (part number 51045) can be installed to increase preload 0.25" beyond maximum.
  • Requires recalibration of Advanced Driver Assistance Systems (ADAS) after installation.
  • Will not fit 2WD Tacoma models with five-lug wheel studs.
